Management of the land and grounds
De Heerlijckyt is more than a centuries-old castle. It is surrounded by 23 hectares of grounds and parkland that contribute just as much to the power, image and enjoyment of De Heerlijckyt.
Here you will find true peace and relaxation, feel the world around you and discover and meet your true self and that of others.
More than a meeting place
It happens the moment you set foot on the driveway and pass between the trees: time stands still, stress dissolves and all pressure drops away. There are a number of places in the De Heerlijckyt park and grounds where you’ll want to linger... There’s a whole new world to be discovered. This is a place where meetings can be held, either walking or at one of the dedicated meeting places. If you would like to hold your celebration or ceremony amidst the power of nature, there are countless pockets of fairy-tale beauty and inspiring atmosphere.
The more spacious environment is ideal for long walks or cycling along the ‘Knooppunten’ route teeming with sites of cultural and historical interest. Walking maps and hire bikes are available.
The park and grounds are protected, in their entirety, as a landscape monument. We invest in them and have implemented a sustainable management policy that respects the past while preparing for the future. The ponds, meadows, centuries-old trees, rare flowers and protected animals are all cared for and attended to. This way, we always have a rich habitat where plants and animals find a fertile breeding ground.
Historic vegetable garden
In 2016, the historic vegetable garden was sewn once again: nine historic garden beds with vegetables, herbs, cut flowers and small fruits. One part of this goes to the Heerlijckyt kitchen, the rest are free for the picking.
Tending to the garden helps bring your mind to peace and weed out damaging and toxic thoughts. Gardening materials are at the ready for our guests … And anyone who wants to spoil the home front with a bouquet of cut flowers upon their return is more than welcome to pluck them when they’re in season.
De Heerlijckyt van Elsmeren, filmed from the air
